How it works, wherever you are in the UK

Five steps from first call to files back in your hands. You approve every cost before it happens.

  1. Free consultation

Call or send the form. We work out whether the fault is physical or logical and give you a price band.

  2. Send the drive

Post it by tracked, insured delivery from anywhere in the UK, or drop it at the London lab by appointment.

  3. Cleanroom diagnostic

For physical faults we open and inspect the drive in the cleanroom for £79 + VAT, then confirm a fixed quote.

  4. Recovery

Nothing further is charged until you approve the quote. If a donor drive is needed, we send you a link to buy the matching part.

  5. Data returned

Your files are copied to an external drive and checked with you, then returned by tracked delivery or collected.

Why a cleanroom matters

Inside a hard drive the read/write heads fly a few nanometres above the platters. A single speck of dust is larger than that gap. When heads fail, they have to be replaced with the drive open, and that can only be done safely in filtered, dust-controlled air.

We do that work in-house, in our own cleanroom in London, rather than sending drives to a third party. Your device stays with the engineers you spoke to from start to finish.

Before you send anything

How much does data recovery cost?

A first consultation is free. A cleanroom diagnostic is £79 + VAT. Deleted files on a standard hard drive start at £99 + VAT, physical recovery of a single drive is £450 + VAT plus any donor drive, SSD repairs are £450–£650 + VAT and RAID starts at £650 + VAT. See the full price list.

Do you cover the whole of the UK?

Yes. Customers in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland post or courier their drive to our London lab. Londoners can also drop off by appointment. See how to send a drive.

Should I keep trying to power the drive on?

No. If a drive clicks, beeps, buzzes or isn't recognised, switch it off. Repeated power-ons and recovery software can turn a recoverable fault into permanent platter damage.

Is my data kept confidential?

Yes. Devices and recovered data are handled only by our engineers for the purpose of the recovery and are never shared. See our privacy notice.

More questions and answers

Tell us what happened

The first conversation is free. We'll tell you whether the fault looks physical or logical, which price band it falls into, and how to send the device.

If a drive is clicking, buzzing or not spinning, switch it off now. Every extra power-on can scratch the platters.
